Established by Dr. Kerry Bowman in 2000, the Great Ape Fund was created to support various conservation-related programs in Africa. Current Canadian Ape Alliance initiatives include the Kahuzi Beiga Environmental School, the Tshivanga Station cassava mill, and an ongoing GIS assessment that is helping to map one of the remotest and most unspoiled regions of the Congo.
If you wish to receive a Canadian tax-deductible receipt for your donation, please give to our Congo Conservation and Health Fund at University of Toronto. A tax receipt will be sent instantly via return email.
If you do not require a tax-deductible receipt, you can give online directly to our work.
You may also send your donations by cheque to the following address:

It is extremely expensive to fly to the Congo, but it is also vitally important that we visit our programs at least once a year. Our representatives travel at their own expense and so are limited in the number of times they are able to go. If your frequent flyer miles are transferable, consider donating them to a Canadian Ape Alliance representative for travel to the eastern Congo.
You can cash in your Air Miles for gift cards at Staples/Business Depot and send the gift cards to us. We will use them to purchase much needed printing and office supplies.
Tax receipts are issued through the University of Toronto Congo Conservation & Health Fund.
